Abaco Bahamas

The Eastern Shore overlooks the Sea of Abaco on one side and Sugar Loaf Cay on the other. It is the closest thing to being on an island without the need for a boat!

We built our cottage in 2006 and named it 'On the Rocks' because of its location with the deck hanging out over the limestone iron shore and my liking for whisky on the rocks!.

'On the Rocks' is just two miles from the town of Marsh Harbour and the ferry to Guana Cay and within walking distance of the Hope Town and Man of War Cay ferries. The town has a good selection of shops, supermarkets and medical facilities all staffed by friendly and helpful people. Car and Boat Rentals are available locally and there is a good taxi service to and from the International Airport, just 20 minutes away. Golf is available at Treasure Cay and Winding Bay and divers are serviced by two well established Dive Shops in the town.

The cottage is a well equipped, cool and comfortable home. One can walk, run and swim in complete safety along Eastern Shore whilst those not so energetically inclined can read and lie in the sun and relax on the large deck. An ideal haven for painters or writers who feel like a change of workplace. Those interested in bird watching (the feathered variety that is) can attempt to see the Abaco Parrots on forays into the surrounding countryside. The view of sunrise and sunset from the deck is spectacular and the constant activity of the passing boats by day or sitting under the stars at night means there is always something to capture one's imagination.
